Add a medication

A medication starts on the page of the person or pet who takes it. You search for it by name, pick the exact product, and the app walks you through the rest: the label’s directions, the strength and amount, and the schedule.

How do I add a medication by searching?

Search for the medication by name and pick the product. Then type the label’s directions or skip them, set the strength and amount, and check the schedule before you save.

  1. On the person’s or pet’s page, tap Add medication.
  2. Search for the medication by name, then pick the product.
  3. Type the directions as printed on the label, or tap Skip.
  4. Set the strength and how much is taken at a time.
  5. Check the schedule, then tap Save.

Narrowing a long list

Some names stand in front of hundreds of products; acetaminophen is one. Filter the list by form, such as tablet or liquid, to find the one on your label.

When the search doesn’t find it

A medication the search can’t find can still be entered by hand. The app asks for the same details in a structured form, so you’re never stuck. Pet medications and supplements often need this.

The label’s limits

You can enter the most the label allows at a time and in a day, and the app checks each dose logged against them.

Let the directions build the schedule

If you type the label’s directions, the app turns them into a schedule and asks about anything the label leaves open. See Build a schedule from the label.

Before you save

Above Save, the app says once that it doesn’t check how medicines interact. If you’re unsure about a combination, ask your pharmacist.
